Traditional Country Music
Those three words express a simple yet very complex meaning in today's country music environment. I have listened to many groups and individuals who claim to be "traditional". But I wonder if they actually know who Kitty Wells or Jimmie Rodgers are.

In 1989, KNEL radio in Brady, Texas, began a radio program called "Hillbilly Hits." The idea was simple-traditional country music recorded at least 21 years ago. The three hour radio program expanded to its current six hour weekly slot. Through their requests and dedications the listening audience actually selects the songs played during each program. The music and interviews of legends such as Rose Maddox, Mel Tillis, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Johnny & Jack, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Floyd Tillman and countless others are featured each week.

The "Hillbilly Hits" radio program later spawned the "Hillbilly Hits Fan Club." Comprised of over 450 members throughout the country. The organization promotes traditional country music through events and organized trips. In 1996, the board of directors combined the "Hillbilly Hits Fan Club" under the name of Heart of Texas Country Music Association, expanding its role beyond the radio program.

This album was created out of a desire to establish a Country Music Museum in Brady, Texas, to display artifacts from the former days of our industry for future generations of Country Music Fans to enjoy. The great artists included in this compilation album have donated their time and talents to allow the proceeds to go directly into the establishment of this building. Our gratitude can never be fully shown towards their efforts.

We invite you to see the progress we are making for Traditional Country Music any time that you are in Central Texas! Hank Thompson recorded an album titled "Kindly Keep It Country"-that's what we are doing in Brady, America!
